The City College along with The Butts will be transformed into a £110 million mixed –use scheme to be called Earlsdon Park. Fronted by a 10 storey quality commercial building with approximately 70,000 sq ft of ultra modern, flexible office space with further office, retail, leisure, restaurants and café bar facilities. Furthermore, there will be over 500 residential apartments. At the heart of the project will be an existing art deco style auditorium that will be refurbished and enhanced with the addition of a new public piazza and performance area.

The Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) – which maintains and develops the national curriculum, tests and examinations as well as monitors qualifications in colleges and at work – are set to relocate to this development sometime during 2009. Work has now started on the commercial phase of the development.

The relocation will bring about 550 jobs to Coventry, making it one of the city’s largest employers. Coventry was one of six short-listed cities that the QCA considered relocating to during a four month decision process.
